West Carleton is a small community of just 23,400 (2006) located rurally within the city of Ottawa just west of Kanata. It used to consist of three townships – Torbolton, Fitzroy, and Huntley with its boundary being the Ottawa River, however it was amalgamated into the new city of Ottawa in 2000. The new boundaries consist of Highway 7 and the Queensway to include the northern portion of the former city of Kanata. Amenities include many schools, churches, small restaurants and shops, a public library and the Fitzroy Provincial Park. There is no shortage of greenspace, and the Ottawa River, Chat Falls, and Mississippi River are just a few of the beautiful places to explore in West Carleton. If you love the feel of a small town, and enjoy an outdoor adventure, this might be the neighborhood for you.
